WildTech Feasibility Study — Deaf School Sign Language Video Library

Hello from WildTech. We are in the feasibility phase of a RACHEL deployment for a school serving deaf and hard-of-hearing students in Malawi, partnering with World Vision and the Ministry of Education. Our plan is to use RACHEL as an offline server for a custom sign language video library in Malawian Sign Language (MSL), along with subtitled curriculum content.

We noticed ernestsebastian is deploying to Mzimba — great to see others working in Malawi.

A few questions for anyone with experience:

  1. Has anyone built a large custom video library on RACHEL and run into storage or streaming issues with 20 simultaneous users?
  2. Any known issues with loading MP4 video content as a custom module?
  3. Are there community members connected to deaf education or sign language content in Malawi or the region?

We have reached out to Jeremy directly on hardware configuration and are happy to share what we learn as the program develops.
