How to update the standard issue modules

I am a brand new Rachel user. Today I powered up my Rachel server for the first time, logged in as Admin, navigated to Version, and attempted to check for updates.

I got back a “X Can’t Connect” message on the Content Shell and a whole bunch of (X Internal Error (4)” messages.

Sure could use some guidance on how to proceed.
